Windows fans are eagerly awaiting the MacBook Air alternative based on the Intel Ultrabook platform. Today's news suggest though that the first Ultrabooks from Asus and HP will be priced above $1,000. The new ultra-thin laptops will be though in any case hot items for the Holiday shopping season. The first Ultrabooks will launch likely in September. Come Black Friday these laptops will be on the market for about 2 months.
The chances to get a great Black Friday deal on an Ultrabook are slim. Only hope is that Best Buy, NewEgg or Amazon will single out an Ultrabook as a marquee Black Friday Deal to raise attention.

Do not Expect a Black Friday Deal on the Star Wars Xbox, Pre-order Now

There are some products you want to get your hands on as early as possible. Microsoft just announced one of them for the Holidays 2011. The Xbox 360 Limited Edition Kinect Star Wars Bundle is going to be one of the hottest Christmas gifts this year. Do not expect to see a deal during Black Friday 2011 sales month on this baby. What will happen is more likely to happen is that the Star Wars Xbox will catch double the price on eBay.

Amazon has opened pre-order on the Star Wars Xbox 360 Bundle now on Amazon for $449.99.

There is no shipping date released yet for the Xbox 360 Limited Edition Kinect Star Wars Bundle, but we expect it to ship in time for Christmas.

Black Friday 2011 Camera Deal Tip: Panasonic Lumix LS5

Panasonic unveiled today the Lumix LS5 entry-level camera with 14.1MP resolution. The Lumix LS5 will be available in November just in time for Black Friday 2011. The LS5 is going to be a great bargain camera to hunt down on Black Friday at a great price.
The Lumix DMC-LS5 is feature packed offering 720p HD video recording, Optical image stabilization, face detection, scene sensor and 5x optical zoom. It runs on AA batteries. Panasonic did not reveal the pricing yet, but I see the LS5 as the reference camera for Black Friday bargain deal cameras.


Remember, it is not just about the lowest price that makes a great Black Friday deal. You also want to get a quality product.

Walmart Black Friday 2011 Ad Predictions

 The Walmart Black Friday Ad is considered the most anticipated of all Black Friday circulars. Walmart has in the past focused on lower end products with dramatically low prices.

The Walmart Black Friday deal highlights in 2010 included:

I could imagine though that Walmart will include some electronics from new categories like Android Tablets and 3D TVs. There is a trend among consumers to by something sustainable that just works. This is one of the reasons Apple is so successful these days.

Walmart will very likely offer an Android Tablet Black Friday deal. Let's hope the tablet will run Android 3.x (Honeycomb). In the 3D TV segment I see Walmart offer a Polarizer glasses based TV.

Walmart had an Black Friday iPod touch deal last year. Walmart carries now also the iPad, but I do not see Walmart featureing the iPad 2 in the Walmart Black Friday 2011 ad.

Walmart will for sure again offer a large TV for the lowest possible price as well as a price-breaking 32-inch TV. Full HD TVs will get even more attention. HD Ready might be finally on the way out.

Black Friday 2011 Tablet Deals, A Look Ahead

Black Friday 2011 will see an onslaught of tablet deals. The Android world will be attacking the dominating Apple iPad this fall. Android Tablet running Android 3.x (Honeycomb) are considered to be reasonable alternatives to the leading iPad. The anticipated low prices will draw lots of potential iPad customers to Android tablets.

Prices are already starting to drop on Android Honeycomb Tablets (see Amazon). HP will also join the tablet deals games with their webOS tablets.

Apple might again offer a modest discount for the iPad on the actual Black Friday. The real hot Black Friday savings are though expected on Android tablets. I expect to see Honeycomb tablets priced below $350 for Black Friday 2011.
Update (Aug. 2011):
HoneyComb Tablet sales started early. Target offers an Iconia A500 for $399 + free $100 Gift Card. Based on that I adjust my prediction of HoneyComb tablets prices during Black Friday to under $300.

There will also tons of bargain Android Tablets priced below $200. These run though Android 2.x. If you are serious about using your tablet you need to look for a Android 3.x tablet. It could also be that Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) tablets will arrive in time for Black Friday. Don't expect great deals on these though.

Some Black Friday 2011 Highlights are already set by CES 2011 Announcements

The CES 2011 earlier this year is already a hotbed for the products that will be big during Black Friday 2011. 

Get ready for tons of Tablet Black Friday deals. It will be crazy and nothing compared to last Black Friday. The scenario I predict will be that major manufacturers including Motorola, Samsung, LG and Toshiba will try anything to make you buy their Honeycomb tablets despite everybody wanting an iPad 2.

On top of that second tier tablet makers will try to sell their run of the mill tablets at ultra-low prices and some will try to get a foothold marketed as eBook readers.

Last Black Friday there have not been any real Apple iPad deals. This is likely to change for Black Friday 2011 as the iPad will be available in its 2nd generation and in ample supply. I expect similar savings we saw on the iPods last season. You will see discounts in the 20% range and $50 or more gift card bundles. This situation will make it even harder for Android Tablets to compete with the iPad.

In TV land the CES 2011 is leading us to believe that there will be a "3D TV technology mess" come Black Friday 2011. 3D for the living room will be available in a broad range of fidelity delivered by different types of 3D technology that will likely not help adoption. I predict 2011 to be flat year for 3D until the industry is sorting itself out. I have my bets on integrating the shutter technology in the TV that Samsung announced. Samsung's RDZ 3D TVs can be use with cheap RealD glasses and you still get the full resolution in 3D mode. The polarization route that other manufactures take this year is crashing the shutter glasses party and adding more on the 3D TV 2011 tech confusion. What this means for Black Friday 2011 TV deals is that you get bargain deals on 3D TV with Polarizer 3D glasses. How the 3D content availability will develop until Black Friday is still unclear.

4G phones will be huge during Black Friday 2011 as carriers continue to expand their 4G networks. Expect for free deals on 4G handsets as carriers start to grab market share for real.

CES 2011 did not introduce any new major product category. It just brought us a wave of improved devices and a broader variety. The next months will actually show which devices will make it to the market and will still be available during Black Friday 2011.

Black Friday 2011 3D TV Prediction

TV makers will try to sell you 3D TVs again this Black Friday. Last year was the first time 3D TVs have been on the market. Our parent site called out 3D TVs as the best Black Friday Deal of 2010. The discounts and the free stuff you got was just amazing. Expect no less this year. The difference will be that you can choose between two rivaling 3D technologies. 3D TVs with passive Polarizer glasses and 3D sets with active shutter glasses will compete for your attention.
Here is an interesting take on how these 3D TV technologies differ.
Polarizer 3D TVs, mostly pushed by LG, will set a new low price level for 3D TVs. The glasses for these 3D TVs are dirt cheap and are not a factor anymore for the 3D TV investment.
I expect that Walmart will put a Polarizer based 3D TV front and center in their Walmart Black Friday 2011 Ad.
